ANSI 55-1 ceramic pin type insulator also known as low voltage pin type insulator is one of porcelain pin insulator and is usually composed of porcelain parts and spindle.
ANSI 55-1 ceramic pin type insulator structure:
ANSI 55-1 ceramic pin type insulator is made up of porcelain unit, iron cap, steel pin. The iron cap and steel pin are assembled with porcelain part with cement. The cap and pin should be on the same axial line and don’t have obvious deflection. Porcelain pin type insulator is one of porcelain parts or several parts assembled together with cement, and some of the insulator thread will use zinc sleeve, which is also cemented.
Porcelain pin insulators properties:
ANSI 55-1 ceramic pin type insulators are typically used on high tension power distribution towers, generally used on low voltage distribution lines, also called low voltage pin type insulator. Porcelain is by far the most commonly used insulating material but there are a number of composite styles as well. Porcelain pin insulators revolutionized the power distribution industry allowing much higher voltage protection.
