ANSI 55-7 ceramic pin insulator, high voltage pin type insulators

ANSI 55-7 ceramic pin insulator is one of high voltage pin type insulators used on distribution overhead power lines consisting of insulation unit and insulator end fittings.

ANSI 55-7 ceramic pin insulator features:
With the weather changing, ANSI 55-7 ceramic pin insulator will be applied semi-conductor glaze on the top and inner hole, sometimes we call it grey glazed porcelain pin type insulator. The usage of this is to anti-radio interference.

                              ANSI 55-7 ceramic pin insulator

ANSI 55-7 ceramic pin insulator will be breakdown by lightning, when the same time voltage is called breakdown voltage. Porcelain pin type insulators used in electrical field, which is also called electrical insulator.
ANSI 55-7 ceramic pin insulator is used in electrical equipment to support and separate electrical conductors without allowing current through themselves. The porcelain pin type insulators are also used more specifically to refer to insulating supports used to attach electric power distribution or transmission lines to utility poles and transmission towers. They support the weight of the suspended wires without allowing the current to flow through the tower to ground.

About ANSI 55-7 ceramic pin insulator materials and properties:
An ANSI 55-7 ceramic pin insulator or high voltage pin type insulator is a material whose internal electric charges do not flow freely, and therefore make it very hard to conduct an electric current under the influence of an electric field. A perfect porcelain pin type insulator does not exist, because a portion of the ANSI 55-7 ceramic pin insulators could becoming electrically conductive if the voltage applied across it exceeds the breakdown voltage. This is known as breakdown voltage of a ceramic pin insulator. Examples include rubber-like pin type electrical porcelain insulator. Such materials can serve as practical and safe pin insulators for low to moderate voltages
