Composite railway insulator composed FRP core, silicone rubber housing, weathersheds and insulator metal fittings. The end fittings which are intended to connect to a supporting structure or a conductor are made up of malleable cast iron.

The silicone rubber housing can protect the FRP core for acid and corrosion. The shed can provide creepage distance used for suitable voltage lines.
